You can also do it while walking I've done it while driving and doing all sorts of different activities

Alright so just keep your eyes open and as you're looking at what's ever in front of you take a few breaths and allow your focus of your eyes to soften. It's a kind of slightly blur.

And you may find it helpful to do this by noticing not only what's in front of you but without moving your eyes from looking forward notice how far out on your peripheral vision you can see.

And you may want to put a hand there to your left or to your right and continue to stare straight ahead and just move your hand further and further back until you can no longer see it there on the very edges of your eyesight.

And then slowly move it forward again until you just become aware of it and then move it back and notice how far back as you do this a couple of times how far back your awareness can actually travel you may notice getting a sense of seeing your hand goes even back behind your shoulders.

Or maybe the furthest you can get is not your shoulders or just in front of your shoulders.

And you can use that hand trick any time if you're having difficulty softening your gaze.

But for now let the hands drop to the sides take a few breaths and just allow that softening of your gaze noticing not only what's in front of you but everything out to both sides of your peripheral vision all at the same time.
