Here's your host, Child Therapist Natasha Daniels.

0:11.0

Well, hello there, and welcome to the AT Parenting Survival Podcast.

0:16.0

In this episode, I am going to be talking about parenting with anxiety.

0:21.0

For a lot of us who have anxious kids, the apple does not fall too far from that

0:27.5

anxious tree, right? You guys know who you are out there. I know who I am. So I thought it would be really good to talk

0:36.2

about how do you parent when you're anxious yourself? A lot of times parents will ask me,

0:42.3

I'll get a lot of emails from parents who will say,

I'm an anxious person. Did I cause this? And I hear that a lot in my practice when people are coming to bring their anxious kids in to see me, they will say in their

0:55.5

parent-only sessions they'll say, did I do this?

0:59.5

Did I create an anxious child?

1:26.6

1:32.2

anxiety or somebody in your family, genetics has anxiety,

1:36.9

then your children are genetically at risk to get anxiety as well. That's just kind of part of life,

1:42.4

just like brown eyes and blonde hair. But there are

1:46.7

ways to kind of keep your anxiety in check so you don't parent in an anxious way. And I think that's the difference. Just because you have

1:54.6

anxiety doesn't mean you have to parent with anxiety. You can parent without

2:00.4

anxiety but be an anxious person.
