You're on the Bert Show

We have certainly had a lot more family meetings around here lately than we would like but Rebecca you came on yesterday and told a very brave and inspirational story and the birch show fam showed up for you in a major way huh?

Yeah, so yesterday I came on air

and I talked about my new pretty frightening diagnosis that I had recently

received. So I have been diagnosed with tongue cancer.

And I'm just about to start what's about to be

probably a pretty long journey to first of all get rid of the cancer and then

relearn how to do a lot of things that I take for granted every day like eating and swallowing and speaking. So yesterday I came on and I had

written a letter basically just explaining what I expect to go through,

thanking everybody for the support that they've given me

because you guys have been there with me from day one,

my family and friends as well.

And I was so nervous to talk about it because even though my family, my friends, you guys, you all knew basically from the day that I found out,

it felt more real coming on air and saying it so publicly that I have cancer.

It was really scary.

And I was kind of shaking in my boots with my little paper as I was reading.

But after it was all over, it felt so good to get off my chest to actually say it out loud and know what I'm

going to be facing and the support from you guys has been amazing but what I

really didn't expect was how much listeners would

come and message me and send me encouraging and kind and supportive and just amazing messages and

emails and DMs. It was like a positive overwhelming overload and as the social media

producer I guess I'm not that like in tune with people being so positive on social media.
