This is John Batchel, speaking with my good colleague Bob Zimmerman about the test of Jeff Bezos's

Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket, a booster in a second stage, comparing and contrasting New Glenn

with Falcon Heavy for SpaceX. Bob does us a favor of focusing on the faring.

That means what they can put on top of the rocket.

New Glenn compared to and contrasted with SpaceX is super heavy.

There is a second stage, John. There's no rocket at this point is single stage to orbit. That doesn't exist.

But what they're trying to do is it's a two-stage rocket. The first stage is reusable, just like a Falcon 9.

The second stage goes to orbit. It's got a very large varying diameter, which means it can hold. Very large payloads. It's a very large ferrying diameter, which means it can hold very large payloads.

It's a very powerful rocket, and in fact, the best rocket to compare New Glen with is

Falcon Heavy.

They both put up about 40 to 50 tons into low Earth orbit.

What New Glenn has that's an advantage over Falcon Heavy is that ferrying.

It can put up much larger objects within that ferrying.

The ferry size of Falcon 9 is good, but this is bigger.

And so that's the main difference in the two rockets.
