This is John Batchel, speaking to colleague Liz Peake of the Hill and Fox News about the Biden administration, the last hours, and the president's ambition when he was new to the office in 2021, to be consequential like FDR.

What it came to in the closing weeks were contradictions and challenges.

The puzzle is Joe Biden was never a radical or a progressive.

He was a moderate center of the road,

go along to get along, Senator from Delaware for nearly 50 years.

And then in office he became And then, in office,

he became, well, Liz explained it. Part of the explanation for Joe Biden's sudden transformation

into a very progressive, extremely progressive, even the word radical is used, as to do with a colleague of his in the

Well, actually, it was much earlier than it was like the third month or second month he was in

office. This was his plan was to be a consequential if and great president.

And he wanted to tap the collective wisdom of these presidential historians to find out how he could do that.

John, I think he was delusional at that point.

And he's even more delusional now because he has said in recent days that he thought he could win,

he thought he could have won the election beaten Donald Trump.

When you look at the polling that Joe Biden had during the last year, last 12 months, he never was ahead of Donald Trump.

In April, 72 percent of the country answered a CBS poll and said he was not mentally capable of being president.

I don't think those 72% of the people were going to go out and vote for a guy that they thought was mentally declining.

But more than that, Joe Biden early, before he became the candidate, actually, before he

accepted the nomination in 2020, he teamed up with Bernie Sanders. In order to get Bernie Sanders

followers to vote for him, he adopted much of Bernie Sanders platform. And remember, Bernie Sanders followers to vote for him, he adopted much of Bernie Sanders' platform.

And remember, Bernie Sanders was considered too radical to be the Democrat nominee. So when Joe Biden
