This is John Batchel. There is talk of a reverse Kissinger, a reverse Nixon, separating China and Russia, the No Limits Partnership.

Until Levin, my colleague, the Quincy Institute, regards this as a bridge, several bridges too far. However, there is a moment here he finds that resuming

energy sales from Russia to Europe and guaranteeing that for the price advantage, Russia would

gain and Europe would gain, would have the effect of elbowing aside Chinese advantage right now,

a buyer's market, Anatole identifies. Here, he explains it. Antelovin on not reverse Nixon,

But only to a limited extent Russia and China economically.

And that, for example, you know, if you can have a peace settlement in which Russia once again

sells gas to Europe, which would be very good for Europe as well, well that would diminish

China's energy security, you know, because which depends very heavily

on importing oil and gas by land and not by sea, which the US can, could intercept.

And, of course, it would be good for Russia because at the moment, with Russia shut out of Western energy markets, you know, China is in a buyer's market and has been in a position pretty ruthlessly to fix the price to its advantage.

So one can see how, you know, nothing on the scale of Nixon to China, but one can see how you could have a

degree of decoupling, which would be useful from a US point of view.
