The US government believes Chinese Defence Minister Lee Jong-fu has been placed under

investigation in the latest sign of turmoil among elite members of Beijing's military

and foreign policy establishment.

I welcome Charles Burton and the MacDonald-Lawry Institute to help me understand a story that

is spilling out over many days, many weeks, the first disappearance and then the announcement

of corruption, of significant figures in Xi Jinping's command of the Chinese Communist Party.

The ambassador to Japan for the United States, Rama Manuel, has written on Twitter very carefully

that the Chinese government is now resembling Agatha Christie's novel and then there were

none.

but under investigation for corruption.

What does that mean corruption?

I hear that word all the time in Chinese government when they talk about changes or removals.

from kickbacks on defence procurement, but ultimately, is there any Chinese senior, Chinese

official whose lifestyle is any way compatible with their official salaries?
