Hello and welcome to Radio Headspace and to Thursday. It's D-Fear. So I was with a good

friend the other day and she was telling me that she'd found her groove with her meditation

practice in the mornings. But she actually said sometimes her practice felt like this

separate thing from the rest of her life. And this is a really common feeling to experience.

And my teacher refers to this as post meditation. So much so that even though the meditation ends

and we join our day again, the practice is still very much in effect. We just have to

remind ourselves of this. A little bit like we have to remind ourselves that the blue

sky is always there even when it's obscured by the clouds. And I think it can be helpful

to think about this. A little bit like you word when learning any skill. The qualities

of mindfulness need to be practiced and not just in a meditation session. This is where

post meditation comes into play. The more we can remind ourselves to intentionally bring

our attention into the present moment, no matter what we're doing, we're practicing

mindfulness. The fact that my friend noticed that she was finding she was getting distracted

and caught up in the day actually means that she's training that muscle. And it's the

same in an actual meditation session when you find that it's going horribly wrong because

you notice how busy the mind is. You don't realise that the noticing is actually training
