Summary

In this episode of Drunk Ex-Pastors we begin with a discussion about how we can have discussions (in other words, how it is that a Catholic and agnostic can be as civil as we are to one another), after which we share some thoughts about the ever-narrowing field of presidential candidates. A caller asks us for our honest opinion about homeschooling, as in, is it just a tool for religious segregation or does it have some positive benefits as well? Another caller suggests that we have never really dealt with the issue of abortion and asks us to weigh in on it, which we do, leading to some disagreements as well as to suggestions on how the topic can be handled less inflammatorily by people on both sides of the aisle. And finally, our Feeding Friendsy segment exposes us to God's final warning against America which, apparently, he spends significant time thinking about (you know, because the USA is at the center of both the universe as well as God's redemptive plan for all people everywhere. Geez, ethnocentrism can be a serious pain in the ass).

0:53.8	Just 9 o'clock. I got off work. Yeah. I know. It's late. Here I am. 9.01 in front of the mic. 9.30 p.m. and we're starting the podcast and I got to get up for work in the morning. Yeah. And it doesn't matter because as soon as the sun comes out, which is about 430, 445 here right now. Yeah. I'm awake. Yeah. And you're, as I was saying to you earlier, your room is on the western side of the house. Yeah, your room is kind of on both. You get light from both sides. Yeah, but I get, when it's a sunny day, the sun shines right in. But I have, I mean, I have, I don't have like blockout curtains, but I have like blinds or whatever. Well, I'm sure you and listeners remember that I put tinfoil over my windows a year ago. And now I'm remembering why I did that. Right. Yeah. Well, hey, Mother Nature's way of helping you wake up at 6 a.m. Well, I've been literally getting in bed at 8.30 and hoping to fall asleep by 9 so I can get eight hours of sleep. Yeah, tonight, I have to be somewhere at 10 in the morning. Really? Yeah, I'm not going to mention where. But I have to... I'm about to pause this. I have to get a good night's sleep tonight myself. Really? Yeah, it's all fun in games. You've got to be somewhere at 10 in the morning. Yeah, I'll have to leave here at 715 if it makes you feel any better. So unless where you have to be is Portland, I don't feel that bad for you. Okay. So I wanted to mention Kai McAlpin again. If you feel so led to help Kai, he's been diagnosed with leukemia. He's one of our listeners, young sons. And it sounds on Facebook like he's not doing too well right now. He's having liver failure. Yeah. And they're doing their best to treat him. They've moved him to a hospital in Oklahoma. Gary McAlpin is the father's name. And if you want to help, you can go to gofund me.com, Kai McAlpin. That's K-A-I-M-C-A-L-P-I-N. And I'm sure that, I mean, they had to move to Oklahoma for the hospital, so I'm sure they can't work right now. They're going to be there with them in the hospital and everything. So they could really use real material help, but also prayers and thoughts, but also money.
