EMFs, how do they cause biological damage and even cancer?

by a researcher, Dr. Paul Harrow, who is a professor at McGill University in Montreal and the Faculty of Medicine.

And he's going to help us answer that question because he's done some really interesting research to

elucidate the mechanism.

Thank you very much. So to provide our viewers with a bit of your background, I thought it would be best if you would elaborate on it and how you first became interested in this field and what

your primary focus is now? Well at some time I was trained as a physicist and

eventually I gravitated to a power utility and did a PhD there on

electrical power transmission lines and in the course of working for the power utility power associated with their fields and I found that extremely interested I got involved

in biology followed courses in medicine and became a so to speak a type of different person from what my supervisors initially would have expected me to be.

So that made life very interesting and somewhat difficult, but I became a specialist on the effects of magnetic fields on the human body over time and eventually I went to the faculty of medicine to try to protect health and the environment.

Okay good. So before we go into more specific details I think it would be best if you could help us understand from your

perspective the different types of electromagnetic fields you know basically

broadly there's electric magnetic as you reference and it's one of your focuses and then of course radio frequency

so perhaps you can expand on that and then we'll we'll delve into the focus on your

with the magnetic component.

Yes, even if you look at the literature what you will find is that it tends to discriminate a lot between say low frequency fields and high frequency fields and

microwaves and the electric fields and magnetic fields.

But actually all of these fields have a lot in common. And in a sense you can practically lump all of them in terms

of their biological action in the sense that it's true that frequency influences the effects, but basically they all

proceed the fields by the same mechanisms.
