Okay, so I'm going to, in this talk review some of the ideas and

concepts that we've been talking about and hopefully introduce a few more.

And that's sort of the way we'll be introducing each set of ideas. We'll go over what we've talked about before and then introduce and build and hopefully that way it'll

be easier to digest some of these insights.

So to go back to what JMO was saying this morning, which was very well put and cannot really

be overemphasized that humans, we are social animals,

pack animals. We don't have the ability to outrun a lot of our predators. We don't have shells. We don't have great abilities to climb trees.

We don't dig holes and scurry into the ground with any particular alacrity.

But one thing we do do exceptionally well is connect.

And the reason we do that so well is that we connect on so many different levels.

Though as we move into adult life, we tend to rely, I would argue over rely upon the connection afforded to us by language and ideas, to the point that we can have entire friendships largely based on texting and

Facebooking and non-synchronous just words going over Ethernet.

But we're not relying on the full range of connectivity that's afforded to us.

In the first three or four years of our life,

our primary form of connecting and establishing security.

In fact, our overall drive is to bond with an attachment figure.

An attachment figure for an infant is somebody who will care for us,

who will provide a sense of security, a sense of being taken care of, a sense of being understood.

And this bond that's formed is of enormous importance.

It provides when all goes well a secure base that allows us then to go on and

explore the world with confidence and to make connections with others,

with a sense that somebody is there to have our back.
