has Los Angeles fired a chief after tensions over L.A. fires. Backstory. It's all backstory.

And I welcome Jeff to help me remember because thanks to Jeff, I follow these fires during the

several days in which the Pacific Palisades fire seemed to threaten many more homes

than were finally destroyed, although that was a big enough number.

And the Eaton fire out near the JPL lab, I worried a lot about that.

But I don't know L.A., and so Jeff was my guide.

What I did see during that time of watching the fires jump from house to house

is that there was a severe breakdown of communication between the L.A. Fire Department and the mayor's office.

And that now continues with this headline.

The mayor has fired Crowley.

That's what it says.

The mayor has.

And I recall, I believe, fire department chief Crowley giving an interview in the CNN in those early days of the fires in which she acknowledged that there had been a failure.

We could see that.

Los Angeles was covered with smoke.

There was fear everywhere.

And in addition, she said she expected to be fired, but she wasn't at the time.

Help me remember why she wasn't or what the relationship was that she thought she would be fired way back during the fires burning.
