At the same time, have been arrest, detentions, headlines

these last days of illustrating the larger story of former President Bolsonaro who is accused, the allegation

goes, of planning a coup with his military and police authorities in the summer before the election.

Some have been arrested, some have been detained, some have been searched.

Mr. Bolsonaro is disenfranchised from running again. The story continues, however, with moves in the last week

making allegations more complete about the planning. There's some inconsistencies here.

However, Professor, my concern is to understand Brazil.

The electorate is almost 50-50. It was a very close election, good democracy at the same time. Mr. Bolsonaro is now

disenfranchised so these continuing moves against this larger and larger allegation

of coup masters meeting and cutting up the country and

planning to take over the government. Who does that serve? Because half the

country is alarmed by it and incensed.

Well, John, in some ways it serves no one because it contributes to polarization within Brazil

because those people who are Bolsonaro's core supporters, the people who

really felt neglected by the political correctness in Brazil, not unlike what we
