Summary

It's the final day of the year. For today's meditation, you're invited to take part in a special fire ceremony. You have several options to do the meditation. 1) You can mentally visualize a fire within yourself. 2) Or, you may use the flame of a burning candle, or a burning smudge stick contained within a fireproof container or a burning log within a fire pit. Please do this meditation outside, especially if you are creating any flames. It's important to have a large pitcher of water nearby to douse any flames. Make sure you light a fire safely.

MATERIALS FOR A NEW YEAR'S EVE FIRE CEREMONY:

Strips of paper to write on

Pen or pencil to write with

A fireproof container, candle, or firepit

Matches

Smudge stick

Pitcher of water for safety

*** Please do this meditation outside safely in an area that is free from any flammable materials.

I'm Mary Mechley and I welcome you to a closure meditation as you celebrate the final day of the year.

0:21.5

As you get ready to do today's meditation, I invite you to pause this episode and gather a few materials that will make this meditation extra meaningful.

0:36.0

You don't have to do this because you could simply visualize the steps I guide you through as you put closure on the year.

0:44.0

But if you'd like to take part in a fire ceremony, I encourage you to gather a few pieces of paper.

0:53.0

You could even take one piece of paper and tear it into strips, a pen or pencil.

1:01.0

And if you have some kind of fireproof bowl or even a metal pan, I often line the metal bowl or pan with aluminum foil.

1:15.0

I encourage you to do this outside as well. Also, you might have a fire pit or you could use one candle.

1:27.0

Again, I encourage you to do this meditation outside, somewhere safe where you're not likely to catch anything on fire other than the strips of paper.

1:38.0

You'll be burning as you are guided through today's special closure meditation.

1:46.0

You'll also need matches and a picture of water just in case you might need it to put the fire out.

1:57.0

Again, you can do this meditation modified where you don't actually light a fire.

2:04.0

And if so, you could simply visualize the fire ceremony within your mind or you could take part where you write down a few things.

2:16.0

You'll be putting closure on the paper without burning it. So you have lots of choices.

2:23.0

Now, as you do this meditation, I mentioned if you could do it outside, that is the best.

2:31.0

When you meditate outside, whether it's cold or maybe hot, if you live in the southern hemisphere, it brings an extra measure of groundedness as you meditate.

2:48.0

So you may go ahead and pause this episode and you can gather your supplies or continue right along and settle yourself down to meditate.
