Hello and welcome to The Cinefiles. My name is Steve Morris. I'm a filmmaker and directing

instructor in Los Angeles, California. Hello everyone. My name is John Roca. I'm a

writer, producer and host in San Diego, California, by way of Los Angeles, California. Steve, network!

What are your favorites? It is one of my all-time favorite films and while I'm sad about

the reason we're revisiting it because we're honoring the great Ned Bady this week, I think

Network gets better every year. And I think we think about where we were when we recorded

this. This was pre-pandemic. Yeah. But it's certainly the media and the craziness of network

news and of 24 hour news made it an incredibly topical film when we recorded a few years

ago. And of course, we were so lucky to have worn only as our guest to give us real insight

because he lived through the exact world of network. And of course, what's weird about

this is Ned Bady is on screen for four minutes, five minutes. He absolutely not only dominates

the movie, but dominates Peter Finch in the scene. Oh yeah. I know that he, I think he

got the part like two days before. That's my memory. I mean, well, I guess we'll have

to listen to the episode to find out if that's right, but something like that. And it's

nominate for an Academy Award for this performance. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, and here's the thing.

Is it less time than I think it's less time than Dame Judy Dench overall had in Shakespeare

in love and she won an Oscar for it. So I mean, there to be only in a four minute scene,

but it is better than any scene in the movie. In terms of the, the things that are being

said are on point and true and uncomfortably so. And when you're watching the Bezos of

the world, when you're watching now, what we saw this controversy around Bill Gates and

the stuff that was going on behind the scenes with him and Melinda Gates. And so you go,

you go and explore this thing and you see these people operate at a whole nother level.
