Summary
Are you spending a lot of time multitasking when you would actually be more productive focusing on one task. For example, what if you check your email while riding a stationary bike? Both activities are something you need to do, but one is physically taxing and the other one requires your mental focus. So there's a perfect opportunity to multitask. Also, Chalene talks about the importance of combining friends with other important activities - either running, hiking, dancing, making art, whatever.

| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Shaline Show. Shaline has helped thousands with her books, seminars, and online |
| 0:07.7 | academies. She's the author of The New York Times bestselling book push in a mother of two. |
| 0:12.4 | Hey there, what's up? It's me, it's Shaline. Do I sound different? |
| 0:19.1 | Well, if I do, it's because I'm recording this podcast from the road in my car, my truck, |
| 0:27.6 | if you will. And I'm doing so using a microphone called a road microphone, R-O-D-E, no pun intended, |
| 0:36.1 | a road microphone that's attached to my lapel and plugged into my iPhone. And I'm recording |
| 0:42.2 | this just simply into my audio notes. I have both hands on the wheel, approximately 10 |
| 0:49.9 | and 2, and I'm focused and looking around and I'm not distracted. I'm just talking. This |
| 0:55.9 | is no different than talking to myself, really, because I guess I really kind of am talking to myself, |
| 1:00.8 | huh? Well, I mean later you'll listen to this, but right now while I'm recording this, I'm |
| 1:05.0 | very much talking to myself. The reason why I wanted to do this is I recently did an episode |
| 1:10.2 | for Build Your Tribe. And by the way, if you haven't already heard, I've resurrected my business |
| 1:16.9 | podcast. And what I'm doing is recording answers to questions from my students, my students of |
| 1:23.8 | the marketing impact academy. I just thought I'd tell you that because I just really think so many |
| 1:30.2 | of you are like-minded. It's why you found my podcast. It's why we have so much in common. And I |
| 1:36.5 | just want to encourage you to just listen to those episodes, even if you are positive, you're never, |
| 1:43.7 | ever, ever going to start a business. Yeah, just never know. I believe having your own business |
| 1:50.5 | means freedom. Now, I wanted to record this podcast to you for you from the road because I want |
| 1:57.3 | to talk to you about when and where it makes sense to multitask. I've got amazing responses from |
| 2:07.0 | people who listen to the series I did on focus. That's a three-part series. And I just have to |
| 2:12.8 | tell you, I really appreciate all of the speak-pipe messages you left me saying like, whoa, |
| 2:19.8 | whoa, this is crazy. I can't even believe how much more productive I've become. This is what I |
