Summary

Welcome to the fourth episode of Minisode Monday! We keep finding so many useful tactics and tips that we want to share with you, but they don't fit into the format of a regular show -- hence, Minisode Monday. The Cheat Sheet: Off the top of your head, think of something for which you're grateful. It can be anything -- from a passion for teaching others to having a strong circle of friends to having a good job to loving where you live. Anything. In what ways does this thing for which you're grateful make your life better? Now think back to when and how you came upon whatever makes you grateful. Chances are pretty good another person was responsible for bringing the object of this gratefulness into your life. No matter how long ago this happened, track down and thank that person (thanks to social media like Facebook, it's easier than ever to do this). Let them know how grateful you are for this thing, but more important: how grateful you are to them for introducing you to it. Remember: it's never too late to be grateful. Let us know about how you put today's Minisode Monday into practice! Leave a comment below, tweet with @TheArtofCharm in your response, or email jordan@theartofcharm.com (he reads everything)! Welcome to Mini-Sode Monday. Happy to be with you here, helping you kick the week off with something

0:04.1

quick and actionable that you can implement right away that'll make you more magnetic and effective.

0:09.9

Today I want to tell you a little quick story. When I was in law school years and years ago,

0:14.5

almost a decade now, I was on this island called Kurosau taking some legal classes during one of

0:19.3

the winter breaks. It was an easy way to get some credit and it was kind of a vacation-y type deal.

0:24.1

And one of the professors there, his name was Gil and he was working for Baltimore or something like

0:28.3

that. He was the dean and he was a great professor and a really cool teacher, really laid back guy.

0:33.4

And we were actually finalizing the first podcast website during his class instead of listening

0:39.2

on some crappy island Wi-Fi talking with AJ back and forth. And I had to give a presentation.

0:44.5

So I went up there, kind of winged it, kind of prepared a little bit. But you know, did a decent

0:49.2

job for somebody on a tropical island during the middle of Christmas break. And after the

0:53.2

presentation, he stopped and he said, look, Jordan, you've got a natural aptitude for this. You should

0:58.3

really become some kind of teacher. And of course, I kind of said, what are you talking about and shrugged

1:04.7

it off and went back to my seat. But I never forgot about that. I went on to do the coaching thing,

1:09.7

do the podcast here that you're listening to right now. And I remember his encouragement in this area.

1:14.8

Later, I tracked him down through a mutual friend and I let him know via email how he had shaped

1:20.0

my hobby, which became my business and led to the podcast you're listening to literally right now.

1:26.4

So in your life homework for this week, track down and thank someone who has helped shape you.

1:31.6

It doesn't matter how long ago it was, use Facebook, use LinkedIn, including and especially using

1:38.0

mutual friends who might know this person where they can be found, etc. See what a little thank you.

1:43.5

Even decades later can be worth to someone. Don't forget about the art of charm challenge as well.

1:48.6

It'll help you connect with others, create more productive and personal business relationships.
