had a strange relationship with the news.

My parents watched it constantly when I was younger.

I mean from 4 p.m. until midnight.

I felt like it was just pure negativity streaming into our house all day.

And thus, as an adult, I'm apprehensive to watch the news.

Consuming these sad and fear-filled stories seem to give my parents a skewed perception of the world.

So I go back and forth. I listen or read the news and stop.

But as you know, I like to be informed. I like to learn and I like to know

what's happening in the world. It's a tug of war between FOMO, the fear of

missing out, but it's also JOMO, the joy of missing out, but it's also Jomo, the joy of missing out.

What I'm realizing is my relationship to the news is pretty similar to my relationship with social media.
