Today, I am so excited to talk with a true fashion industry insider, Meredith Melling,

the co-founder of Lalene, which is an incredibly thoughtful line of season-less, striped centric,

high-quality basics and beyond, with a direct consumer model plus retail partners like Netaporte

and Nordstrom.

Of course, since this is Second Life, you know that this isn't how Meredith started

her career.

She's actually a former vogue editor where she worked for a decade and was the senior

market editor before leaving to start her own companies.

Yes, plural.

I'm so excited to talk to her about what she's doing in the design world, and you're

going to hear all about it now on Second Life.

So Meredith, what did you study in school and what did you think you were going to be

when you grew up?

So I grew up in a family.

I grew up just outside of Boston, and my father was North of the honest, and my mother was

a psychiatrist, and there wasn't a lot of conversation or focus around fashion.

So for a long time, as a young child, I thought I'd be a veterinarian until I realized blood

and guts were involved in that.
