All right. I think we are live here. Welcome to our viewing audience. Welcome to Free Trail Friday. Of course, I am Dylan Bowman here,

0:23.4

joined by my good friend and collaborator, Hillary Allen. Hillary, hello. Happy Friday. How are you?

0:30.9

Hey, I'm so happy to be here. We're so happy to have you. And today we're going to be breaking down

0:37.0

the action of next week's

0:39.1

Madeira island ultra trail and of course Hillary is the 2021 champion the race happened just about

0:46.8

six months ago it typically is a spring race of course because of COVID they moved it to the

0:52.1

fall last year so Hillary won the race back in

0:55.0

November it's still fresh in her memory and so we're going to go into all the details of the race

1:01.6

of the competition of the weather conditions and all that good stuff here in our conversation

1:07.6

Hillary how are things in in the People's Republic of Boulder?

1:19.5

1:25.3

1:28.4

course that I love. No offense, Dylan, for the Gorge 100K. I'm taking. I posted a little bit of a

1:34.8

joke, maybe a late April Fool's Day of how I'm breaking up with runnable 100Ks. So, sorry,

1:41.1

I'll come support from the sidelines or announcements next year. But yeah, so just

1:45.9

kind of getting my mountain legs underneath me. But, you know, the Gora Chenderhke for me was a bit

1:51.2

of a rough day, but the whole point of it was a training run. So it wasn't my A race by any means.

1:56.9

But yeah, I can already feel kind of the benefits of that. The good thing is, is that I didn't have a hard, tough, like super tough day going to the well, so I recovered fairly quickly.

2:08.6

Sometimes you just have to grind through it. That'll no doubt be a big strength builder as you point towards UTMB.

2:14.6

Maybe we'll talk a little bit about that later on in the conversation.

2:17.9

But again, welcome to our live audience here on YouTube. I just wanted to clarify up front.

2:24.6

The Madeira race that we're going to be talking about today is not happening until next week.
