Hi, my name is John Kim. I'm a therapist who went through his own rebirth many years ago,

and I've been documenting my journey ever since, sharing my life lessons and revelations.

I believe in casual over clinical with you instead of at you.

I come unrehearsed on purpose because self-help doesn't have to be so complicated.

So today I sat down to write and not just write as in meeting book deadlines,

but like really right like I used to back in the day when I was writing for myself,

not to sell anything.

And also not daily tax, not meeting a publisher's deadline or racing the relentless

clock of expectation today i'm writing purely for myself and by the way i encourage you especially if

you are someone who writes books for a living, to do this once in a while.

This is how I started back in my Tumblr days 2010 with starphone coffee in my hand, and my blog was my confessional booth.

And the blinking cursor was an invitation rather than an obligation.

So right now it's just me, an extra hot cappuccino, because Koreans prefer all their drinks

and soups boiling hot. I don't like anything lukewarm, including my coffee. And my endlessly spinning thoughts, that's what I'm sitting with today.

And I'm actually in Korea Town, literally punching keys, retracing my steps through the same

neighborhood that first nudged me toward my rebirth.

Rebirth number one, actually, because right now I'm kind of going through another one. But Createtown is noisy, messy, and it's brilliantly alive, a tiny universe made

of contradictions much like my old life. Being back here today, I can feel the differences under

my feet, the subtle proof that maybe and just maybe i have returned from
