This is CBS, I on the World. I'm John Batchel. Bob Casey, long-time political life in Pennsylvania, my home state.

Bob Casey has stepped away from the Senate and conceded victory to a man named David McCormick, who once jumped out of an airplane over Gettysburg, and his shoot didn't initially open, and his parents were watching.

But now he's the senator-elect from the Keystone State, and I welcome the chronicler of the

Keystone State, Selina Zito, of the Washington Examiner and the Wall Street Journal,

to help us understand the delay in Mr. Casey's conceding to Mr. McCormick and what it reveals about our home state,

especially in the east, the color counties.

Selina, a very good evening to you.

There was been a delay.

There's been an automatic recount.

The concession is made, yes.

But we learned that in Bucks County and Montgomery County there was dissent,

dissent to the scale that the governor had to step in and speak against it. What happened to your

understanding, this dissent not to obey the law? Good evening to you. Good evening. More importantly,

I don't know, the state Supreme Court had to step in and say basically, hey, cut that out.

So in Box Center and Montgomery counties, the Democrat-controlled county commissioners decided to, in the recount process, to count provisional votes, ballots that were illegal. And Bucks County was the

most vocal about it saying, you know, basically, I'm paraphrasing, obviously, but that they didn't care what the courts had said and they were going to do what they were going, they were going to count the ballots.

And it grabbed national attention and rightly so.

And so the state Supreme Court, which by the way, Pennsylvania State Supreme Court is 5-2 Democrat majority.

They were so incensed by the Bucks, Montgomery, and Center County shenanigans.

In their ruling, they wrote it in all caps because they were so mad that these

commissioners were defying the law and it was a seven zero ruling so um you know i think they were you know, I think they were, you know, quote unquote, told. Now, Governor Josh
