No injuries. At this time of year year when it's cold and dark, I'm going to be honest, it can be difficult to find the motivation

0:27.6

to get up and get out there, whether you're a long time runner or even new to the Rump or Drunk Club.

0:33.9

Sometimes though, you just need a little motivation and to make sure you're in the right

0:39.6

place to take on 12 months of running, I am thrilled to welcome to run pod. Someone who honestly

0:46.0

is a great running coach. She coached me to my P.B. A few years back and ever since she is just

0:53.1

getting even more qualified to provide you with the

0:56.1

best expert advice possible. So I'm Jenny Fultner and today I'm joined by the one and only Karen

weir. Hello there. Hi Jenny and happy new year. Happy New Year. I know I was saying there it was a few

1:07.7

years ago that I got my peevee of my goodness it was years and years ago

1:18.6

back on board and how are you anyway I'm I'm really well yes enjoying enjoying life still running

1:25.6

as as you've mentioned we've known each other for a while. So getting on a bit, so my training has definitely adapted and changed to try and support me more as I've got older. And we have to just accept that things need to change as we get older. Yeah, indeed. Well, we both met kind of, what was it, like mid-30s, early 30s, let's see, and you were living in London

1:45.1

and now you have, you made the move to the Peak District. How is it? Still liking it? Oh, I love it. Yeah, it's, um, if you don't know where it is, it's the same, right back in the central of the country, so we're midway between Sheffield and Manchester, but it's a beautiful, it's the first national park, it's beautiful. There's lots of hills, should you wish to run up hills. In fact, I've got to the stage that it's really hard to just find somewhere flat and tarmac to run when you just want an easy run. But, no, it's a beautiful place to live. Life is a little bit slower. People are generally friendlier, certainly when I go back to London and I run around Richmond Park or along the river, people will not say hello. They will not even make eye contact with you half the time. So it's, yeah, it's a bit different. Yeah, that's my challenge. When I go out, I am the crazy smiley lady that smiles at everyone and if they smile back I literally

2:35.5

am in shock going they just smile back at me it's so weird and it is weird because we're both

2:41.1

that we're all out there doing the thing we love doing but some people they're just eyes down

2:45.9

won't look at you in the zone completely or maybe it's because they're so engrossed in

2:49.9

run pod Karen that they can't even

2:51.8

bear to look up absolutely and so listen I'm going to say hello to you if you are about to go for a run
