James Lawrence, known as the "toughest man on the planet," is a Canadian athlete from Calgary, Alberta. He currently lives in Utah. Lawrence gained media attention in 2015 for setting the world record for the most Ironman-distance triathlons completed in a single year: 50. In 2021, he broke his own record by completing 100 consecutive Ironman-length triathlons in 100 days, then completed one more for a total of 101 in 101 consecutive days. Lawrence also holds the record for the most half-Ironman triathlons completed in a single year: 22, set in 2011. He is married and has four daughters and one son.
