Hi, my name's Andy and welcome to Radio Headspace and a Thursday morning.

So today I have a question for you and it's what would you like to be remembered for?

I don't really like these kind of questions and the reason is because I feel it's a little strange to think ahead to the future

Looking back at the past when most of my time is trying to encourage people to simply be present

So it's a strange way of looking at it and yet at the same time I think very occasionally it can help frame

The way that we live our life and the activity that we pursue in our life

And the reason this came up in conversation a friend of mine has been reading my rangelose book

He was recounting a particular

Quote from that book and said people don't remember what you said or what you did in life

They remember the way that you make them feel

It's a beautiful quote that on its own would be enough for radio headspace today

But if we take it a little broader and we start to think about what we're engaged in in our life

There is so much emphasis placed on getting somewhere doing something

Maybe being successful whatever that means and yet when we think about the people that we care about

Those who are here and those who have passed we don't tend to think about what they did in their life

We don't tend to think about the successes they may or may not have achieved in their life

We think about the person

We think about their qualities as a person. We think about how they showed up in life

How they perhaps communicated with us and most importantly how they made us feel

So in a world which is constantly encouraging us to focus on external activity and how we can succeed and be bigger and better and

Everything else. I think there is real benefit in pausing just once in a while

To consider looking about what would I want to be remembered for and what is important in my life
