Summary

In this episode, which we first published earlier this year, Jason and I tackle yoga injuries. There may not be a way to completely prevent all injuries, but we’re sharing some best practices that teachers and students can practice to minimize the risk.

We cover a lot of ground, but here are a few top-level points:

* Why there’s no one “right” way to approach any pose in order to prevent injury.

* The four key things you should consider in regards to injury prevention

* The types of hands-on adjustments that Jason advocates against

* How to find equilibrium and balance in yoga poses

Hey everyone, I'm Andrea Ferretti and this is episode 245 of Yoga Land.

0:09.3

I hope you are all doing well out there as we barrel toward the holiday season here in the US.

0:17.8

And as we barrel toward the end of 2021, I'm finding my mind is a little bit blown that we are already here.

0:23.9

I just feel like this year has flown by.

0:27.4

And I'm super grateful for it and very grateful for the holidays because I love the holiday season.

0:32.8

But I don't know, I'm finding myself wanting to spend more time journaling lately and more time

0:39.1

in my quiet internal practices, breathing and contemplative practice, just to kind of get a grip

0:46.4

on the present. It just goes so quickly. Anyway, this week I am re-running one of our most

0:52.4

popular episodes from last year for ways to prevent yoga injuries. It was a conversation that I

0:58.2

had with Jason and it really is sort of the top line best practices that he uses in approaching

1:06.1

Austin practice and just creating a healthy practice. So enjoy the episode and we now have

1:12.9

his injuries online program is on sale today. So if you would like to learn more about the

1:19.2

current online program that he's running, we've changed it a bit so that it is now available

1:27.2

for a year instead of six months. Most of our programs are going to remain available for six months

1:32.8

because we just agree that it motivates people a bit more to get things done the longer you sort of

1:39.4

keep things open. The longer we humans tend to drag it out and we want you to get through these

1:44.3

programs and really get the information. But for injuries we felt like we had a discussion about it

1:50.8

and we felt like this content can take longer to process and implement in your teaching and in your

1:56.8

practice and it's also super useful content to be able to go back and refer to. So that is one

2:03.6

reason that we are offering a year long access to this content if you sign up for the course.

2:10.0

And the other thing is that instead of doing all of the calls over one three day weekend,

2:15.2

along weekend, Jason is going to spread the calls out so they're once a month and the first call
