My name is Dan Oblinger. I come to you, Kwame, from the middle part of America, the heart of America,

as we say. I am based in and around Wichita, Kansas. My background is in police crisis negotiations,

but I have made that transition to a business negotiator as well, running a small business centered on speaking and

conducting workshops in listening and negotiations, but also running. I have a bunch of rental

properties. So managing those as a real estate investor and I have five children. So those are a

totally different sort of negotiation that requires a lot of emotional control. And my background

being in police work and then in the business world and running a large family with young

people becoming adults, I deal a lot with deception. And I think that's why we're hooking up

today for a nice conversation. Absolutely. And it is incredible. We are now about 152 episodes in or so.

We have yet to dig deeply into deception, but that's what everybody wants to know about. And

given your background, you are uniquely qualified to talk about this. And I know there are three

parts about the deception that you want to talk about

or three topics within it. How would you just give us that quick outline? Yeah, so let me preface it.

I'll just preface it briefly by saying that the other thing is going to come out as we talk is that

my background prior to law enforcement was as a student of philosophy.

So I studied to be a Roman Catholic priest for a time.

My background is an ancient philosophy and ethics.
