Welcome everybody to today's episode of the Lindsay Elmore show.

Today we are going to talk about the health benefits of meditation.

Because oftentimes when we think about what makes me healthy, how do I achieve health?

We think about the way that we eat, the way we exercise, perhaps the way we sleep.

Maybe we think about our relationships

in our lives but oftentimes the root cause of illness has nothing to do with what we eat and how

much we exercise it has much more to do with how we can control our stress response.

How can we continually ensure that our bodies do not go into sympathetic overdrive?

And how can we be sure that we stay even keeled no matter what kind of craziness is happening around us?

In today's episode, I am first going to go through some of the research about the health

benefits of meditation. It can be short term, it can be long term, but even just taking a few moments a day to relax your

mind and to settle into your body has been shown to have profound health benefits after that

i am going to do one of the meditations that i have a bit of a love, hate relationship with.

It's called a loving kindness meditation.

And you start the meditation by focusing on yourself and by showing yourself loving kindness.

And if that's not hard enough, you then reach out and start showing kindness to someone that you love.

And if that's not hard enough, you then go the next step to share some loving kindness with someone

that you barely know, that you may really have no heartfelt concern about the outcomes of their

lives.

But yet you take a moment and pause and show them some loving kindness.

And then perhaps what is the hardest to do in this day and age is to show loving kindness

to people that we disagree with and that we often don't see eye to eye with.
