Hello, hi and welcome to another episode of the Emma Gunn show. I am your host, well you know who I am by now, I'm

0:15.4

Emma Gunn Awardner, and I thought we'd have a little chat about self-care in this

0:20.6

mini-show because self-care is a good habit to get into but what does it

0:25.8

really mean and the reason why this is at the forefront of my mind at the moment is

0:29.9

because I've been out a lot recently with friends and I've just we've just had the

0:36.1

sort of catch-ups and the sort of deep and meaningfuls that end up making you a

0:40.0

feel really really good and also give you a lot to think about and we just all seem to be at that place where we feel that feeling centered, feeling happy in

0:55.1

adverted commas and by inverted commas I mean based on whatever that means to or

0:59.4

for you and how a sense of calm or just feeling like you're doing okay can come from

1:06.3

staying in your lane not worrying about what anyone else is doing or thinking and

1:11.5

appreciating the fact that you are who you are and that's okay.

1:16.8

1:26.8

not even putting it into practice, but just understanding that that actually is where

1:31.7

that feeling of steadiness, the feeling tethered can come from because when you're

1:36.8

younger maybe you worry a little bit too much about what people think of you or other things and so you haven't really got there yet.

1:45.9

I'm sure there are younger people who have, but just in the experience of my collective group of friends

1:50.9

and I we realize that we are having conversations

1:53.8

and we are understanding ourselves in a way that we couldn't have before and that

1:57.4

obviously is what growing and learning is all about and developing as a human being

2:00.9

in a person and I guess this is something we've talked about you and I, you

2:06.2

my most excellent listeners and I, I think this is something we've talked about a lot in many

2:10.5

different forms with various guests on the podcast but it can sometimes be hard to put into practice.
