Summary

The big mountain stage of the weekend with 3500m of climbing across a day that was constantly up and down. The finish included a 1.5km section of smooth gravel with some steep pinches, beckoning to the GC men for some attacks before the first rest day. 0:03.9	in Iceland for the year at Italia Stage 9 recap. This in my view has been the most exciting
0:10.7	and impactful stage of the year at Italia so far and likely will be during this first week.
0:17.0	The stage was 158k's not that long from Castell Dissangro to Campo for Lich A 3500m of climbing
0:23.9	and barely any flat throughout this stage. False flat, maybe between some of the climbs,
0:29.6	they've got 14k's 4%, 11k's 4%, 12k's 4.5%, 12k's 5% and a ridge line for about 20km,
0:40.4	maybe a bit less and then 6k's at 5.7% to rock at the Campo with a gravel sector. At the end,
0:47.1	1.5k's steep pinches, it's a nasty finish. We thought it would suit someone like Dan Martin,
0:54.9	Chicone or Egan Bernal, the other climbs are not so steep, so would suit riders like
1:00.0	Moscon, Nartvice, Ghana and Castro, the Yeho, Tula Volta went into the stage with a narrow lead,
1:07.9	the Malia Rosa, it would be a tough ask for the young Hungarian to keep that jersey and the
1:13.7	fiercest battle for the breakaway broke out at the start of this stage, Benji.
1:18.9	Yes, it's a lot of a breakaway battles and it's just because we started with an uphill section
1:23.5	that is fairly large in a shorter stage. It's said quite a few times how that works in on this
1:28.3	podcast before, this allows for larger groups to get away and it allows for, well, the gap between
1:34.3	the rider that rides away in the peloton is limited because it's an uphill section and because
1:39.2	with that a lot of riders try to bridge that gap towards the break and that's why they keep on
1:43.2	going with that. We saw that a lot today because well, I don't think we saw a breakaway on the first
1:47.6	section, the first climb and we had that small descent and on the second climbing section we still
1:52.6	had people trying to form breakaways. We had quite a few interesting moves, one of the most interesting
1:56.6	ones to me personally was one where Moritz was in the breakaway and we saw, you know,
2:02.1	Mader going in there as well, Caruso, but also a rider from Inios and that is Dani Martinez and
