Summary
A perfectly balanced route for the climby sprinters to put the non-climby sprinters under pressure, with 3 short climbs stuff together in the middle of the stage with the last cresting with 39km to go. Would Bora-Hansgrohe light it up for Sagan? Would Merlier and co be able to hang on? A fantastic sprint stage eventuated as well some intermediate sprint action between Bernal and Evenepoel

| 0:00.0 | Welcome back to the Lantern Rouge Cycling Podcast, supported by Locoll, here with Benji |
| 0:06.2 | Nyson on Monday night. For the year at Italian stage 10, recap the last stage before the |
| 0:13.4 | rest day. No rest for me. I've been packing up all day to fly to Europe tomorrow in the |
| 0:19.9 | middle of the afternoon. I've just been fighting with this bike bag, Benji. I swear to |
| 0:24.0 | God, this skycon bike bag, and I mean, mate, I wish I'd just got a cardboard box and took |
| 0:30.2 | my chances. I spent the whole year at stage trying to get this thing five minutes, five minutes, |
| 0:35.4 | pack up a whole shit. Anyway, stage 10, gripes aside, 140 kilometers long, luckily left |
| 0:42.4 | in Follinio. Quite a bit of climbing in the middle of this stage, actually, there's a |
| 0:46.0 | climb at the start for a break to form. And there's three climbs, 3.4 Ks, 4%, 6 Ks, 4%, 7 Ks, |
| 0:53.0 | 5% the last climb. And then from the crest of that, it's 39 Ks to the finish in Follinio. |
| 0:59.3 | So each on their own, there's those climbs, not really scary to any sprinters apart from |
| 1:04.6 | maybe you and over on a vegan. So the question was, we'd be able to pace for the entirety |
| 1:09.2 | of those climbs. And we'll see that in a second. But a break did form early on Benji with |
| 1:14.6 | some familiar names. Yes, certainly. Thakav on the horn once again already won a stage |
| 1:20.1 | before to get with his, well, companion dad was also in the break way back then, Simon |
| 1:24.6 | Pelo. He's been in the break a lot this year or so far. Marengo as well, also a name we've |
| 1:29.1 | seen quite a few times in the review as well. So it seems like we've got the same people |
| 1:33.0 | in the ranks every single few days. And then Kobo Horsons ended up chasing that group and |
| 1:38.5 | also catching that break way, which made for a five man break way for the stage. It was |
| 1:43.8 | a bit of talk before the stage about potential echelons, but I didn't see too much of that |
| 1:48.4 | to be honest, like it wasn't really that. In the end, it was clear that Bora wanted to |
| 1:54.5 | try and get something out of the stage, but we had some other sprint teams as well. Let's |
