I'm John Bachelors with Peter Berkowitz and there is total confusion as to this talk of a ceasefire deal between Jerusalem and whatever represents the other

side but the talks are going on in Cairo so Jerusalem and representatives of

the jihad jihadist who are Hamas in Cairo.

I don't even know if I've said that correctly, Peter, because the ceasefire deal looks

to be between Washington and Jerusalem.

It's sort of leading out that there's an enemy camp here.

I do realize that this remains unclear because it's international diplomacy and that's not transparent.

What is your measure of the Biden announcement that this ceasefire deal is going forward

and the apparent acknowledgement of Jerusalem that they would seek a ceasefire deal.

Does this balance out with your understanding of the fact that Hamas is a terror organization?

Well, not only does it not balance out with my understanding,

it turns out it doesn't balance out with

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's understanding.

He has recently stated that the Biden presentation on Friday afternoon in the United

States, which would have been nighttime in Israel, was an incomplete statement of what Israel had presented to the

United States. Netanyahu quickly responded on Saturday that nothing in the document that Israel had

transmitted to the White House suggested that Israel was prepared to cease

the war until it accomplished its primary military objectives.

That's the dismantling and destruction of Hamas's ability to fight and to govern along with bringing

about the return of the hostages, whereas Biden on Friday spoke

about ending the war completely.
