Join My Clubhouse https://ericrobertsfitness.com/clubhouse-page.html In this episode, I break down why your metabolism isn't damaged—it's just adapting to keep you alive. If you've ever felt like no matter how little you eat, the scale won't budge, you've probably been told your metabolism is damaged.

0:12.6

And today, I'm going to explain and prove scientifically why it's impossible to damage your metabolism, but it is possible for your metabolism to

0:25.8

adapt and slow down. I'm going to walk you through exactly why your body fights fat loss

0:34.2

and why your metabolism slows down, but also why that's necessary to get you lean.

0:41.3

And make sure you stay until the end because I'm going to answer the question I get quite often,

0:47.2

which is, how often should I be lowering my calories and adjusting my calories in a calorie deficit.

0:54.7

Is it every five pounds, every 10 pounds, every pound?

0:57.9

Should I never adjust my calories?

1:00.1

Most people adjust way too early or way too late.

1:04.1

And that's why they end up hitting a plateau and slowing down their metabolism even more.

1:09.5

So I'll answer that question at the end of the podcast and just a forewarning.

1:15.1

metabolism, but it won't be so overwhelming that you can't understand it.

1:25.6

I'm still going to break it down to a very basic

1:27.8

level. So even if you are a complete beginner, you'll be able to understand what's going on in your

1:33.2

body. And I'm a firm believer. The more you understand things and you are educated, the more likely

1:37.9

you are to stick with them and the more likely you are to stick with your journey because

1:43.0

you actually understand what's going on versus just

1:45.5

guessing. So the first thing, what is metabolic adaptation? And I want to start with the mistake

1:53.8

of metabolic adaptation, which is a lot of people think once you start cutting your calories,

2:00.5

going into a calorie deficit,

2:02.5

your body is going to enter something called starvation mode.
