Summary

90 Day Clubhouse Kickstart Program- https://ericrobertsfitness.com/clubhouse-page.html On today's episode I sit down with Sophie to break down why the scale does the frustrating, confusing things it does — spikes after a perfect week, stalls for three weeks then drops five pounds overnight, shoots up after a hard workout. I go through every major reason this happens: cortisol and water weight, the whoosh effect, the menstrual cycle, poor sleep, high-fiber foods, and more. By the end of this episode, you'll understand what the scale is actually measuring — and it's a lot more than fat — and why that number going up might actually mean things are working. If you do not have a good relationship with the number on the scale and the piece of plastic you step on every single morning, then this episode is going to be for you because myself and my co-hosts Sof are going to be talking about what the scale actually entails, what it reads, why it might not be going down, even if you're being perfect, even if

0:22.5

you're working out, you haven't missed a day with your calories. Why, if it spikes up, that might

actually be a good thing for your fat loss and we will change how you think and how you react

to that number on the scale. What's going on, Sof? How are you? Good. How are you? Great. Doing great. Yeah. What's going on today? How is your morning? It's the morning. Um, fine, I guess. Nothing, nothing crazy, nothing wonderful, nothing terrible, but just a pretty average day. Nice. Cool. For you? I, a terrible morning. Oh, my God. I had a terrible morning. Probably not for the reasons that you would find a morning terrible, but I went to a doctor and it was supposed to just be a follow-up appointment, walked in. She said, hey, we should probably do some blood work. I said, okay, can we do that today? So then she's like, yeah, we can do that today. So I was like, okay, I'm number one, I'm not prepared to do blood work now. Like, I'm terrified of needles. So that's a thing already. But then I see the girl in like, no offense. She looks young. So I'm like, have you done this before? She's like, yes. I'm like, okay. Then she pokes me, and then like the whole thing's happening. I can't even look. Like, I'm just like not looking at my arm. Turned around. She's like, I was only able to get one bottle. I'm like, okay. She's like, I need to. So then she proceeds to poke me two more times. Can't find the vein. She's like, I'm going to have to go to the right arm. I'm like, great, let's go. So that she pokes me again, didn't get it. She's like, I think you're going to have to go to the lab. And I'm like, what the fuck? So ultimately, it was fine. They said that one bottle is fine.

But I just felt like I needed to share because I'm sure, I don't know, I feel like some people are really terrified of needles and others don't really care.

2:07.8

So I had a terrible morning because of that.

2:11.1

But, you know, I'm recovering from that.

2:13.1

Yeah, I'm sorry to hear that.

2:14.8

Yeah, I'm also not a big needle guy myself, but I'm not a big needle guy when it comes to, like, blood. Like, so I do my TRT, so I inject myself with the needle, you know, I do it every week. And so, but it's fine. Like, it's that I'm totally fine with. I don't give a shit about that. It's like getting my blood drawn. Yeah, it's not a big, not a big fan of that. So, yeah. And it's not even like just the initial pinch is not horrible. It's like sometimes they like press in the vein and it hurts. And then it's like the after when they're like the needles inside and it's just like you're waiting for the potents. the worst and like I can feel the blood leaving my body I'm like you guys are sickos

2:55.9

like why do I hate needles I have to do this yeah yeah I hate vaccines like it's all terrible

3:01.4

but anyways like vaccines like when you get when you get it like doesn't hurt when it first goes into

3:07.2

your arm it's like the after effect but yeah anyways that was my mornings yeah fair enough dude well yeah i know whenever one of the first things i ever i didn't know this until i started training people in person so like i like you can see my veins and i have like veins on my arms or whatever and i had a client at the time and she was like, I, like, you can see my veins. And I have, like, veins on my arms or whatever. And I had a client at the time. And she was like, oh, wow, that's nurse porn. I'm like, whoa, what the fuck? What? And she was like, yeah, that's nurse porn. She was like, yeah, dude. Ever since that day, a lot of people have told me that, too. Like, a lot of people have said, like, that exact phrase. I'm like, this is what you guys call it? And they're like, yeah, that's what they call it. So, yeah, but I guess it's very easy to, I guess, get the blood flow because they know where the veins are. So. Well, it's not blessed with that. Let me tell you, not blessed with that.

3:57.9

But didn't you pass out one time?

3:59.9

Totally.

4:00.1

I think I remember you talking about that one time.

4:02.8

I passed out twice, both for the same reason.

4:05.5

And I, I am a little bitch and I don't like it.

4:08.8

But they were both, I went after my workout when I didn't eat anything post workout.

4:14.6

And so I, like, go get my blood drawn.

4:16.4

And, like, that's just the dumbest thing you could do. But, like, I don't know. I don't really use my brain, I guess. And so, yeah, so I got my blood drawn passed out, how to, like, wake me back up. So, yeah, it's all good. Now, every time I go to my TRT place, like the two girls who do the, who do it, they're like, every time I go get blood work, they're like, what do you think? You're going to pass out this time? And I'm like, fuck off. Like, I'm fucking fine. Like, I'm not idiotic today. I thought you were supposed to go in with, with an empty stomach. Well, it depends what kind of blood.

4:49.6

It depends what kind of tests you do.

4:53.9

But also, like, you're not supposed to go in after you've worked out for an hour and a half and sweat it and depleted all of your glycogen and, like, all these things.
