Lauren Austrowski Fenton. Hey this is show number 69 and today we're going to talk about the art of noticing.

This is a topic that's very close to my heart because for me it's been the key, the key to my ability to feel happiness every day.

I recently mentioned in a social gathering that I was writing or as you have not as you

know I've written a book on how to feel happy every day And one of the women at the table, a mother of a friend of mine,

first out laughing and said,

what a joke, you writing about happiness.

And I was impacted by her, I guess it was, I suppose, misunderstanding or you could use the word dismissiveness.

It's interesting that we expect, we expect happiness to be this glorious experience, this amazing,

like an arrival, like you get out of a train and you get out in the platform and I've arrived at the

happiness platform. You know I don't believe that's what it's about.

Chabby tea, oh gee whiz, I just love my tea.

I don't believe that's what it's about.

I believe that life is pretty tough. I believe that if you get your hands dirty in life like you get out in the garden, your cans with dirt, and you're to plant some plants, you're

going to have dirty hands. Life is tough. We get our hands dirty in the responsibilities

of life. I have four children. I work towards making an

income while allowing for the needs and the development of the children and

there's parts of that's really tough. So I was thinking about how this woman
