Summary

My friend Drew Young, author of “The Meaning of Your Mission” (amazon.com/Meaning-Your-Mission-Lessons-Principles/dp/1462138063/) which we discuss on Episode 276, joins us to share his experience with pornography based on his brave Facebook post https://www.facebook.com/mrdrewyoung1/posts/2954728144653099. I deeply admire and respect Drew for openly discussing his experience with pornography. Not only does this help him, but it allows Drew to help so many to remove the shame and stigma of pornography (one of the first steps to solving it). We also discuss my recent Ensign article (October YSA Digital version) www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/ensign/2020/10/young-adults/7-tips-for-overcoming-pornography-use If you want to solve pornography or help others, please listen to this podcast. Thank you Drew for being on the podcast and all your great work to help others feel the hope and healing of our Savior. Please follow Drew’s great comment and insights on FB www.facebook.com/mrdrewyoung1 and IG @mrdrewbyoung

My guest on today's podcast is a returning guest, author, and Facebook, social media guru,

0:18.4

and just all around great guy, Drew Young. Welcome back to the podcast, Drew.

0:22.7

Thanks for having me, Richard. Drew is on episode 276 where he talked about his new book

0:30.0

that's out called. Tell our listeners the name of your book and where to find it.

0:33.7

The meaning of your mission and you can find it on Amazon. It's there for the whole world to see.

0:39.3

And just if people want to go back to 276 and hear the whole podcast, just give our listeners an overview of the focus of that book.

0:48.3

Yeah, so I wrote it through the lens of my experience as an earlier-turned missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ

0:54.4

of Latter-day Saints. And I came home due to mental illness, and particularly anxiety and

1:00.4

depression. And the book is basically my way of helping people understand and discover what their

1:07.3

mission in life is, regardless of the challenges they face. And so I try and debunk the

1:12.3

stigmas around suicide and mental illness and perfectionism and just help people feel like,

1:20.5

you know what, this is a safe place for you to come. And I've experienced things in my

1:24.4

journey and my mission that have been tough to handle. And I'm just here to

1:28.7

kind of help walk you along that journey as well. It's a great book. And I've seen many people

1:34.7

share it on social media. I know one early release missionary put it on his Instagram story. It's got

1:41.5

42 ratings on Amazon, perfect five star. I just encourage everybody to go

1:46.9

check out that book. The principles in that book are broader than just early release missionaries.

1:51.8

It's about helping people in our church that just have difficult things that come their way and

1:57.7

helping to feel accepted love and de-shame some of these more difficult

situations.

2:03.6

Speaking of de-shame, we're going to pivot to a Facebook post I saw on August 26th where
