Summary

Curiosity should feel foundational for Latter-day Saints—it's the birthplace of our religious tradition. Any member of the Church can recite the story of young Joseph Smith seeking wisdom he lacked. Curiosity is where any search for God—or for anything beyond ourselves—begins. It's an open stance that can help us get comfortable when we find ourselves unexpectedly dropped into liminal space. Empathy has its origin in curiosity, as does creativity. All of this makes it a perfect wrap for our series of discussions centering change and transition. In Episode 247, Susan and Cynthia explore curiosity. It's a season finale conversation that bridges to our upcoming Season 11 focus: Big Ideas.

It's a great day. This is a good day. I mean, I'm excited that it's the season finale. Not going to lie. We're ready for a break, Cynthia. It's been quite a year for us. But also, I'm really

1:06.5

excited for this conversation specifically. So thanks for showing up ready to do a deep dive.

1:13.7

Well, I love that we're having this conversation for our closing episode. We're just barely

1:18.1

squeaking it in because on our first episode of the season, we said we were going to do it.

1:23.4

So we're finally doing it. And I didn't think I had anything new to say on this topic because it's

1:29.0

kind of my hobby horse. But you made the document. And once you did, I was like, oh, I actually have a lot

1:34.6

more to say. So apologies right now, Susan. I probably put way too much in the notes. So we better

1:40.7

get started. You put great stuff in the notes. And I don't even know how many pages of notes we have.

1:45.7

And I don't want to know because it's too many, but we're just going to have a great time going through this topic.

1:51.5

Yes.

1:52.5

So can't wait.
