Today you're listening to episode 243 and I'm talking with Molly Cidell and her coach John Green. Molly recently placed second at the Olympic marathon trials in Atlanta.

0:42.0

This was her debut marathon. She actually ran her first ever half marathon this past fall in San Antonio where she ran a 11027 and then followed that up with the Houston half in January.

0:57.0

Where she ran a 6935. Molly and her coach made the decision to go ahead and jump in feet first and debut the marathon at the Olympic marathon trials.

1:09.0

Now if you are not well versed on qualifying for the Olympic marathon trials, you can do that in the half marathon, which is what she did.

1:17.0

That's why she was able to debut her marathon at the Olympic trials to qualify for the Olympic trials using your half marathon time. You have to run a sub 113 and to qualify with the A standard in the marathon.

1:32.0

You have to run a 237 and a B standard of a 245. So Molly qualified with the B standard because she qualified with the half marathon and we talk about that in the episode just a little bit.

1:43.0

But some other things to note about Molly. Molly ran for Notre Dame. She was a standout author high school and she's actually the only person that has ever won both the US Foot Locker National Title as a high schooler and then also a NCAA cross country championship title as well.

2:03.0

Now Molly has a lot of running accolades to her name. She runs for Sockini but there is so much more to Molly than her running.

2:11.0

Molly and I do talk the bulk of this conversation but we do get to hear a little bit from her coach John Green who is a former Sockini teammate of hers and he's a great runner in his own right.

2:23.0

So I thought it was really fun to talk with both Molly and her coach to hear a little bit about where they were coming from, how he coached her and how he even became her coach.

2:32.0

So I hope you enjoy that piece of the interview. I thought they were both really fun together.
