Today you're listening to episode 239 and I'm talking with Ashley Higginson.

Ashley is a former steeple chaser. She competed in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Trials

in the steeple chase. In 2012, she placed fourth and then in 2013, she went on to make

the World Championships team by getting second at the USATF outdoor national championships

in the steeple chase. In 2016, she placed ninth at the Olympic Trials with all of her hopes

on making that 2016. She then retired from professional running to begin her career as a lawyer.

Ashley trained competitively and raised competitively while she was in law school and now she is a

full-time lawyer and just ran in the 2020 Olympic Trials her second marathon to date. She qualified

for that marathon running a 243 49 at the Grand Rapids marathon which she ran alongside her husband

and when Ashley was training professionally, she was sponsored by Sockini.

One of the pieces of this conversation that I really loved was her talking about being coached

by Frank Gagliano, a legendary coach that we've heard about on this podcast in the past.

And I also just loved hearing about Ashley's mentality of making the decision to move on and how to

step into that next phase of life. Still loving running, still passionate about running,
