Today we're listening to episode 238 and I'm talking with Vanessa Frazier.

Vanessa runs with the Baramann Track Club. Vanessa got her start to running with the

program Girls on the Run. I loved hearing about that part of her story.

She joined the Baramann Track Club in the summer of 2018 so we talk about what that

process looked like for her and what her first couple years with the Baramann Track Club has

looked like when Vanessa was at Stanford. She helped the team to two runner-up finishes in the

distance medley relay in and she capped off her college career by contributing to Stanford's

third place finish at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track Championships and by setting the school record

for the 5,000 meters in a time of 1509. Now most recently Vanessa was making headlines because she

had a great race at the BU Invitational. She had a breakthrough race crossing the finish line in

the 5K in 1448 51 a 19 second PR ahead of teammates Emily and Veldcourtney Freyrix and Gwen

Jorgensen and just second off Shalane Flanagan's indoor record. Big things are ahead for Vanessa Frazier

and I'm really excited to watch her career and see what's in store for her. I want to let you all

know Vanessa and I recorded this interview about four weeks ago so it was before everything got

on crazy lockdown before everything was canceled and so some of this conversation might sound a

little bit weird right now because we talk about the trials and the Olympics as if they were happening

this year so just know that this episode was recorded. I think it was recorded like March 2nd so it

was right after she had that breakthrough race in Boston so yeah it was it might sound kind of
