This song freaks me out, baby, childish, oh shit, how can I pet when I'm still a kid, childish, oh shit, who the hell decided I was ready for this?

0:24.0

Hey, Fitzdog here, Greg Fitzsimmons, aka Gurg.

0:29.0

Allison Rosen here, I didn't know you were called Gurg. Listen, Gurg, as that song, that amazing, amazing song, which you and your daughter wrote the lyrics to, was playing, I realized that I forgot to ask Gurg to do something.

0:46.0

I don't even know yet that I call you Gurg. Could you, and now this is part of the show, it's part of the fabric of our lives.

0:53.0

It's our 100th show, woohoo. Could you retweet my tweet about, or actually the childish accounts tweet, saying that we're doing this now so that people know to come and watch us because we were not, look, we're a podcast, we're a lifestyle, we're a content vertical, I don't know what that means, but I used to work in magazines, and I remember hearing that term.

1:21.0

And we are, we're a brand, we're a brand, yeah, that's what we are, we're a brand, we're just short of being an institution.

1:30.0

That's right, did you watch Harry and Megan's interview with Oprah, of course, because you know, she talked about the royal family, like there are family, they're a firm, and they're an institution, and we are all of those.

1:45.0

I think so. But anyway, and as an institution, celebrating our 100th episode, as a 100th episode, long institution, something that we do of late is we stream our episodes live to YouTube, YouTube.com, such as Allison Rosen.

2:02.0

So people might be watching right now, and that's why I'm asking you to tweet. So explain Gurg to me, I mean, it's kind of obvious.

2:09.0

Gurg is my name backwards, but when I was, I was on a swim team when I was about six to nine years old. Now six to 11 years old, and I, I didn't, I didn't float, which worked against me. Oh, wow.

2:27.0

Yeah, I was all skin and bones. I weighed, I weighed like half of what a normal child weighed because my mother grew up poor, and so she didn't feed us, even though we actually had money.

2:38.0

And so I was on a swim team, and they said I went so slow that it looked like I was swimming backwards, so they called me Gurg.

2:49.0

Yeah, that's pretty sophisticated for six to 11 year olds.

2:54.0

And but it was the beginning of my standup comedy career because they used to let me race when I was like 11, they would let me race with the nine and unders, because I was so bad.

3:06.0

And so I came in, I, I raced, I did the freestyle, the breaststroke, the butterfly, the backstroke, I did all four, and there were probably four other kids I was racing, but I didn't place in the top three and any of them except for the breaststroke, because it was the closest to just flailing for your life in the water.

3:27.0

And so I came in third and that so at the, they would have an awards dinner.

3:32.0

And Mr. D, who was the, the swim coach, sweetest guy in the world, a little bald guy was about five foot four.

3:40.0

And he would announce, you know, John, John Willis, first place freestyle, first place butterfly, come on up and he'd come up and they give him a little plaque and he'd sit down.

3:54.0

And they said, Greg Fitzsimmons, third place boys, nine and under breaststroke.

4:00.0

And I go up there and everybody's kind of confused because they know I'm like 11 at this point.

4:04.0

And I go up and I take the plaque and then I reach up and I take the microphone from Mr. D and I start thanking everybody, including Jimmy Carter, who was then the president.

4:15.0

And I did jokes about Jimmy Carter having peanuts in his nose. I remember that was one of my jokes.
