I'm back for another Q&A, two days in a row, well impressed with myself.

0:06.0

Yesterday's questions were excellent, so I have very high expectations.

0:12.0

And I'm going to start with this question here.

0:18.0

Will I put on weight after a very low calorie diet if i stay in a deficit but not just as

0:24.0

big not not as big um this is a good question because a lot of people think this right they

0:28.1

think partly because silly people tell them this but they think that they're going to like

0:33.7

magically adapt to very low calories like let's say for example 1200 calories um

0:40.4

hi i get to watch live learning loads hi millie um yeah so they think they're going to adapt to very low

0:47.7

calories that's not really what happened you're certainly not going to adapt to 1200 calories

0:52.6

if your expenditure is significantly higher so what will happen if you say had to 1,200 calories if your expenditure is significantly higher. So what will

0:55.1

happen if you say had a 2,000 calorie maintenance needs and you're eating 1,200 calories

1:02.2

legitimately and actually sticking to it, which is very hard to do. But let's say that you were

1:06.5

and then you're like, do know what, this is pretty hard. I want to bring my calories up to

1:10.2

1,400.

1:11.8

You're still going to be in a 600 calorie deficit, right?

1:16.1

So, yes, you would still lose weight over time.

1:20.6

Now, what might happen short term is if you've been on very low calories

1:24.3

and then you increase your calories is food actually weighs something. So when

1:29.9

you increase the amount that you eat, especially if you're eating quite high food volume, your

1:34.1

weight might go up for a short period of time. This is your weight, by the way, not body fat. If you are

1:40.2

in a deficit, you will continue to lose fat. So you'll just be in a smaller deficit.

1:46.8

What I will say is that most people actually, when they do something to that extreme of, let's say, for example, trying to 6,200 calories and then increasing their calories to something more realistic, like, I don't know, 15,600 calories, they actually lose more weight.
