Hello and welcome to this episode of the ESG fitness podcast. This episode is all about

0:06.8

aggressive dieting, which is somewhat a controversial topic, mainly because a lot of what I

0:13.8

focus on is maintainable results. And that's kind of one of the first things I want to talk

0:18.0

about is that just because you take an aggressive

0:21.0

approach initially doesn't mean that's the approach you're going to maintain. And I say that

0:27.2

because one of the kickbacks around aggressive dieting is like, well, you can't maintain it,

0:31.3

so there's no point doing it, is a little bit stupid. Like fat loss in itself is meant to be

0:36.5

a short term period of time where you're

0:39.1

in a deficit to lose the fat and then you continue with maintenance you don't have to do the exact

0:45.2

same behaviors in both and obviously the magnitude at least of those behaviors is going to change

0:51.9

so and by that i mean like things like your calorie target, your step

0:54.9

count, et cetera, et cetera. What you do to lose fat and create a deficit might not have to be

0:59.3

exactly the same as what you do to maintain it. And I'll come on to exactly what I mean by that.

1:04.8

But what I wanted to discuss today is that I have, in fact, I often do this, but recently I've taken on a few one-to-ones,

1:14.6

something I don't often do, but all of them wanted quite an aggressive approach. And I always

1:21.5

kind of pre-well, I always definitely pre-screen people for this. I make sure that they know

1:27.2

what to expect. I make sure that they know what to expect. I make sure that

1:29.0

they commit to working with me for at least three months after so that we don't just regain the

1:33.2

weight. I make sure they've got a good relationship with food. I make sure they don't have a

1:36.6

history of over-restriction, binge eating or eating disorders. And that they're willing to fully

1:43.3

commit to this process because it is harder

1:46.2

if you want to do it quicker right not going to bullshit anybody here it will be lower calories
