| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome to this episode of the ESG Fitness podcast, which is part three of my five |
| 0:08.7 | six part series on Mindset Reset. And today's topic is a very important one, as they all are. |
| 0:17.7 | And today's topic is motivation. |
| 0:28.7 | And this is one of the most common reasons that people give when you ask them why they haven't met their goals, |
| 0:33.0 | or why they don't regularly eat well, or why they don't go to the gym. |
| 0:35.9 | It's because they lack motivation. |
| 0:40.7 | But the truth is, lack of motivation isn't the rebal. |
| 0:42.9 | I cannot speak today. |
| 0:49.6 | Isn't the rebal, which is my new word for reason, that people don't get results. |
| 0:59.2 | In a weird way, I guess you could argue it is if they're telling themselves that and then they don't take action because they're telling themselves they need to wait for motivation. |
| 1:14.9 | And I will add to this that it really doesn't surprise me at all that most people's, that most people lack motivation because most people's expectations of what they need to do to lose body fat is completely inaccurate. |
| 1:28.9 | The assumption that you need to over-restrict, avoid the foods that you enjoy, wait until you have no social events in your calendar for a full eight weeks, all of these things, that is also the reason that you feel like you need a lot of motivation, even to get started, because your expectations are so high of the |
| 1:35.1 | demands that will be required if you want to reach your goals. And the same is true for the |
| 1:40.9 | assumptions around exercise. You don't need to go to the gym for an hour every day. If you commit to doing exercise three times a week and find something that you enjoy, |
| 1:50.4 | you will get far better results and you will require far less motivation. My second point on that |
| 1:57.7 | is the reason that lack of motivation isn't the reason that you're not |
| 2:02.0 | getting results, if you're following that, I hope you are, is that motivation is not a personality |
| 2:09.0 | trait. No one is always motivated and that expectation will hold you back. The people who you see as really highly motivated are likely the ones with better habits, |
| 2:26.0 | meaning that it takes less effort for them to do the action or the behaviour that they want to do. |
| 2:32.7 | And remember that amazing field analogy we were talking about. |
| 2:36.2 | Yes, of course. |
| 2:36.9 | How could you forget? |
