Summary

I am so excited to have author and illustrator Ann Shen back on the podcast for the third time. On the surface, our conversation is about routines—how to find them, how to keep them, and how to stay committed to them.

But once we dug deeper, I realized that this conversation was actually about how to find practices that help you release anxiety and then how to allow those practices to be a priority for you in your life. Without apologizing for what you need and who you are.

Oh, right. That apologizing piece is huge, isn't it? Enjoy, enjoy and if you have any thoughts on routines and rituals, I'd love to hear them!

Ann is our guest for this week. Anne Chen and I have regular chats. And one of the things that we like to talk about are our routines and how

we're taking care of ourselves and, you know, kind of those things that we need to do in

order to stay connected to ourselves, to our work, and to kind of, you know, Oprah's style

live our best lives. And the conversations that

she and I always have, I keep telling her at the end of them, we have to talk about this on the

1:17.8

podcast because I think it's fascinating. And I think that everybody would benefit from it.

And so many people talk to me about routine. I mean, there's so much out there about routines and about how

1:29.0

to stick with one and what yours should be and what the perfect routine is and what the capital

a answer is. And I think that what you'll take away from this conversation is that there is no

1:40.8

perfect way. There is no perfect routine. There is no one way to really do anything.

1:45.4

It's more about what works for you and are you giving yourself what you need. Now, what I found so

fascinating about this conversation is that when I re-listened to it to prep for this and to get

the episode ready, there were all of these
