| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome to this episode of the ESG Fitness Podcast. This morning I have been doing |
| 0:08.1 | some one-to-one client check-ins and one question I had for the podcast was how to manage |
| 0:16.2 | emotional tsunamis and stay on track. So you know know, just quite a small question for the podcast. |
| 0:24.2 | I probably have this up there with like, what is the meaning of life? Quite a tough one to answer, |
| 0:30.7 | but I thought I would give it my best shot and hopefully this will be helpful to some people. |
| 0:42.0 | So I think in this situation, perspective is your best friend and it's going to be quite individual how you find that. So I wrote a list of a few |
| 0:48.9 | things that help me find perspective. The first one's going to be really obvious and quite unhelpful really, but |
| 0:55.5 | going for a walk, I find that being in nature or just outside of your normal environment, |

| 1:21.9 | the river that I live next to or the estuary if you will where river meets the sea. Just over the other side is a really |
| 1:30.6 | nice place called Newport, which coincidentally is where my parents live, which is lovely. |
| 1:36.1 | And it's about a probably like a two or three minute drive, but it feels so far away from |
| 1:44.0 | Dundee, which is where I live. |
| 1:47.1 | I mean, not that far away, obviously, but it gives you that almost like barrier, |
| 1:52.8 | that it just feels like you're stepping out of work mode or stress mode |
| 1:58.3 | or whatever it is family mode, whatever it is that's stressing you out. |
| 2:01.6 | So that's my first tip and my second tip is that I will think about how I'll feel in a week, |
| 2:10.6 | in a year on my deathbed, like depending on the size of the problem or stress that I'm having or decision |
| 2:20.6 | that I'm trying to make. So if it's a minor thing, I might consider if I'll care about this next |
| 2:25.9 | week. And if it's a slightly bigger problem, I might think, will I care about this in a month? |
| 2:31.0 | And again, if it's a little bit bigger, maybe I'll like this time next year, will this |
