Well, I started out as a skeptic, really. I figured I'd be looking at people who report mystical experiences and they see ghosts, and I figured I'd probably be writing about what form of psychopathology this was.

But the more I began investigating it, I learned from just reading the literature, for example, Abraham Maslow's work in psychology that people who report mystical experiences are amongst the highest functioning people in society.
