| 0:00.0 | Hello, everybody. Welcome back to the Primal Potential Podcast. I am Elizabeth Benton. |
| 0:06.7 | Thanks for joining me for another episode in the Consistency series. I wanted to kick off |
| 0:12.9 | today with a quote that I really love from Inky Johnson. And it says, how you view what |
| 0:22.4 | you do determines how you do what you do, how you view what you do determines how you |
| 0:33.2 | do what you do. So let's use a silly example of cleaning my kitchen. If I think of it as |
| 0:40.3 | not very important, it's no big deal, it's not a priority, I'm probably not going to |
| 0:45.7 | be very consistent, right? But if I view cleaning my kitchen as this easy thing I can do for myself to |
| 0:55.4 | reduce my stress, reduce my overwhelm, I love how great it feels to have a clean kitchen. When I |
| 1:04.3 | change how I view it, it changes how I do it. And this is really relevant when it comes to |
| 1:09.9 | consistency because so often that thing with which we want to be consistent, we view as a |
| 1:18.1 | problem, we view as a burden, we view as an annoyance. I have to work out, I really don't want to |
| 1:25.3 | work out, I hate working out. Well, if that is how you view it, it has a strong influence on how |
| 1:32.5 | you do it, if you do it, the excuses that you make, how easy it is to talk yourself out of a |
| 1:39.6 | commitment that you've made. So if you want to change how you do what you do, then change how you |
| 1:46.9 | view what you do. If you want to be consistent over the long term, it's going to be very challenging if |
| 1:57.5 | you continue to have this negative or burdened view of what you're doing. When I think about eating |
| 2:05.1 | clean, for the longest time, it just felt like such a sacrifice and I was missing out and it was |
| 2:09.6 | this thing that I should do, but I really didn't want to do it. And because of that view, I always |
| 2:15.1 | talked to myself out of it because everybody else was doing this one thing and it's a special |
| 2:19.7 | occasion and I don't want to miss out how I was viewing it was absolutely influencing how I was |
| 2:24.9 | doing it. And you can white knuckle your way through for a little while, but if fundamentally you don't |
| 2:32.0 | want to do it and you feel like it's a burden, you're not going to be in the game for very long. Now, I |
