I'm Mary Mechley and welcome back to our theme this week.

The theme we're exploring all week long has you feeling safe in the world.

In the midst of uncertainty and a global pandemic, you can feel safe and peace.

And you can thrive in your life.

In today's episode, you're going to be guided using a breathing technique to help soothe and calm,

frazzled nerves, and also to support your nervous system.

I want to share with you some ways to help you cultivate a mindset where you feel empowered instead of fearful.

The National Science Foundation reported that we have about 1,000 thoughts an hour.

So if you think about 1,000 thoughts an hour, think about how many thoughts per hour these days,

you may be experiencing fear and uncertainty and not feeling so safe in the world.

A lot of our thoughts are fueled by what we take in from our surroundings, especially the news.

So take care of what you expose yourself to.

There are going to be bad things happening around the world at any given point in time.

But there are also wonderful, peaceful things happening around the world as well.

So make sure that your fearful thoughts don't take over your thoughts of feeling happy and secure.

So feel more grounded in yourself by changing your thoughts.

Also, the breathing technique I'm going to share with you today is a powerful way to help calm your nervous system

so that it helps to calm your thoughts.

A lot of times when we're doing these meditation techniques, we often do them without really thinking about what they're actually doing for you.

So when you do today's breathing technique consciously become aware of how you feel in your body

and also the kind of thoughts you're thinking as you do the breathing technique.
