Summary

Be guided in a breathing technique to start your day with focus and clarity.

This week's series of meditations are based on the classic book, "Meditations of Marcus Aurelius," who was a Roman emperor who ruled from 161-180 A.D. You'll be guided in meditations from his book. His reflections are based on Stoic philosophy which emphasizes living a peaceful life by practicing self-control to attain inner peace by overcoming adversity, and honoring your true nature -- not forcing yourself to be a particular way. This is so aligned with how I share meditation so I'm excited about this week's series.

This is part 3 of a 7-Part Meditations of Marcus Aurelius, Episodes 604-610.

You are guided with a different meditation technique every day that is customized for the week's theme. Weave the techniques into the most stressful times of your day to manage difficult emotions. The meditation techniques help to calm the "monkey mind," when your thoughts continuously interrupt your meditation.

Customized around a weekly theme and our theme for this week in today's

0:19.3

episode which is episode 606. Our theme is the meditations of Marcus Aralea.

0:30.7

Now Marcus Aralea is a very historical figure. His book became a classic timeless book.

0:40.2

The people are still reading and seeking wisdom from. He was a Roman emperor and he lived during

0:50.6

AD 121 through 180 and he wrote this not as a book to be published or dispersed and shared.

1:01.7

He wrote this simply as a diary, just reflections on life around him. He wrote it not as a Roman

1:10.9

emperor. He wrote it as a common man living in his time and you'll notice that what I share

1:21.6

is truly timeless because it's still very relatable today and that's what's so beautiful about

1:29.0

his book. So what I've been doing is each day I've been reading just a section that kind of stood

1:35.8

out for me. You could really take any one of his reflections what are referred to as meditations

1:44.1

in his book. You could take any one of those and really reflect on it. I've just selected a few

1:51.4

that kind of had some meaning to me or jumped out at me. So as you get ready to do this meditation,

2:01.1

I'll still be guiding you through the meditation technique that I normally share for each day

2:07.7

and this happens to be for a Tuesday's meditation. Every Tuesday I share a breathing technique. So

2:15.8

I'm going to read a passage from Marcus Aurelius' Meditations and then I'm going to guide you through

2:24.8

breathing technique and then as always you continue meditating on your own. So after I stop guiding

2:33.0

you through the meditation and the music stops, just meditate on your own. Meditate just to the point

2:41.4

where you feel like you could still go a little bit longer, always leaving your meditation on a high

2:48.5

note. So that's how I'll do the guided meditation. Now if you'd like to

2:55.5

participate in a weekly meditation challenge customized around these themes each week,
